“ Fantastic food, Paratha and beef bihari boti kabab are top notch! Will definitely visit again ”
Tahmida Raheen Iqbal“ We were visiting from out of town and a friend recommended this place. I was very skeptical because it’s almost impossible to find good biryani when dining out state side. This is by far the best biryani I have had dining out. Fresh and very tasty taste homemade. Took two extra orders togo and finished those as well. Will definitely be back to try other items ”
Syed Jawed“ The Halwa Puri tastes exactly like home, completely with the Potatoes (which many Pakistani restaurants don’t include). The mango lassi was delicious, I appreciated the paper straws (yay for Eco-friendly)! It was nice to see reminders of Karachi neighbourhoods on the wall. The staff is very courteous and helpful. I will definitely be returning to try the other menu items! ”
Javeria“ After moving to Southern Maryland from Texas, we have been unable to find a desi restaurant that has good Pakistani food. I'm glad we came here all the way from Southern Maryland. This place has excellent food and decent customer service. Their bun kabob is really good and the chicken paratha roll was amazing. Additionally, the karahis they have are off the chain! We tried their Shinwari Chicken Karahi and Balochi Goat Karahi, and they were simply out of this world. Their Chicken Quorma wasn't bad either. The only thing I would ask them to do is to pay some more attention to cleaning the tables after people leave. Overall it was an excellent experience. Will definitely be returning! ”
Muhammed Jamil (MJ)“ I ordered the chicken biryani and seekh kebabs — hands down the best Pakistani food I’ve ever had in the U.S.! The flavors were rich, authentic, and absolutely spot-on. It truly tasted like home. While their customer service could use some improvement (I had to call several times to get my order through), the food was 100% worth the effort. Highly recommended for anyone craving real, authentic Pakistani cuisine! ”
T K“ I had an amazing dining experience at Desi Bethak. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The food was absolutely phenomenal—authentic Pakistani flavors, perfectly spiced and beautifully presented. The biryani was rich and fragrant, the kebabs were juicy and flavorful, and the naan was fresh and fluffy. Every dish tasted like it was made with love and expertise. The service was equally impressive; the staff was friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations. If you're looking for an authentic Pakistani culinary experience, this place is a must-visit! I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. Highly recommended! ”
Ridz Fateh“ Stumbled upon this restaurant while I was waiting for my tires to be fixed across the street. It's in such a random location. I loved how the categories were labeled on the menu, smart & cute. I ordered the Mutton Korma which was 18, it came with five pieces, four of them were a big bone, with very little meat on it, so I showed it to the lady, who graciously added a few more pieces of meat. The flavor was tasty, and thick rich gravy, heavy on the grease, but that's what made it authentic. It was well complimented by the Naan, which came on a hand woven plate, which I wish they had put a piece of parchment on, as Lord knows how many times it had been washed. The Chicken Samosas were okay, packed with only chicken and a heavy helping of Garam Masala (Indian/Pakistani 5 spice) so the flavor was a but monotonous, and I wish they served it with some Chutney/Sauce as it was very dry. The star here is the Chicken Biryani for only 12.99, cooked, and served from the "Degh" (large pot) which it is prepared in. A small order comes with a leg & thigh, and a potato with a generous helping of long grain Basmati Rice, which was aromatic and flavorful. Sad they served it with a diluted excuse of a Raita (yogurt sauce) in a small 2oz cup. For my second visit: -The Chicken Seekh Kebaab was very delicious, the Tamarind Chutney was too sour, couldn't finish it. I loved the Puri Paratha, tasted like a Bengali version of a Loochi, fried bread, crispy, flaky, great chewy texture. Great combination together -Mutton Biryani was good, lots of meat, and lots of sliced tomatoes, which I wasn't a big fan of, that's my personal opinion, the chicken Biryani was better for me. But I can't wait to try the beef Biryani, as I was told it's the traditional and most popular one. -Chicken Kachori which looked like a Dal Puri, was ok, wish it was hot, as it was room temperature from the front line on display, and looked interesting to try. -I do have to add that the Raita/Chutney was on point today, right consistency, and flavorful. Overall had a good experience in an unexpected place, will go back to try the Bheja Fry (brain) and the Kutta-Kut (liver & kidney) however these dishes are more on the expensive side, so would wait to go with a few people so I don't spend almost 60 for two dishes and some sides. Also another interesting thing, they charge you to sit and eat there, a 10% service fee is added to the bill. There are only two reasons I can think of... Desi people are cheap, so they don't leave a tip, or they are doing more work to clean up after you, so they charge you for it. What do you think it is? ”
Nerissa Maria Ward“ I’ve been coming to Desi Bethak by myself and with family for years and years. This place has amazing food. Their Karahi’s are always amazing no matter what. Biryani is delicious but you gotta make sure you don’t have it around closing time cuz it’s the bottom one not so good. Always get the Biryani at the lunch time or evening. Their weekend specials Nalli Nihari is so so delicious, though sometimes I don’t know what happens but MOST of the time it is DELICIOUS. Their Brain Masala OMG I LOVE IT. They are not so good in fast food options, So miss that and try to stay on Desi foods. De Bethak/Desi Bethak is a fantastic place. Try them out. ”
